Three Sisters . . . Alone! New Review (Theater and Comedy) The Short List (Theater) Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Fridays, Saturdays. Continues through May 22 2010

Set in the "Moscow of Canada"--Winnipeg-- Inconceivable Theatre's play within a play follows a fictional theater group, the Upper Manitoba Players, attempting to perform Chekhov's Three Sisters. After an ice storm leaves most of the cast stranded far from the theater, the unlucky few remaining decide that the show must go on. The players enlist puppets, from a sock to a nutcracker, a cardboard cutout of Mr. Spock, and several dialects to bring nuttier versions of Chekhov's characters to life. Adapted and directed by Joe Lehman, this twisted take on a Russian classic has laugh-out-loud farcical moments. However, the play-within-a-play format loses its way. --Marissa Oberlander
