Thunder on the Hill

An interesting Douglas Sirk melodrama (1951) about a nun (Claudette Colbert) who sets out to prove the innocence of an accused murderess (Ann Blyth). Gladys Cooper is especially good as Colbert's mother superior. A pouring rainstorm keeps the drama properly claustrophobic, and Sirk handles the conventions of the mystery with characteristic finesse. 86 min.
