Tim and Eric Awesome Tour, Great Job! Chrimbus Spectacular 2010 The Short List (Theater) Recommended Critics' Picks Brief Run (Theater)

When: Thu., Nov. 18 2010

There's more creativity, audacity, risk, and fearlessly inventive comedy in the average ten-minute episode of Adult Swim's Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! than in the last ten years of SNL. But for all the sensory assault of its post-sketch blitzkrieg, with its linked scenes, cultural excavation, and overall surreality the show is rooted firmly in an edgy tradition running back through Mr. Show to SCTV and Monty Python's Flying Circus. Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim's Chrimbus Spectacular promises to emulate the show's breakneck pacing, interspersing live material with short films and a preview of an upcoming Chrimbus television special, which will be broadcast at midnight on Sunday, December 5--which, if you didn’t know, is Chrimbus morning. Observed, Heidecker and Wareheim explain, "to commemorate gift receiving," the holiday is founded on the faith that "each year Winter Man travels through the forest bearing gifts for those who have kept their Chrimbus bushes trimmed and wet." Neil Hamburger opens the show, and the Tim and Eric band, Pusswhip Banggang, is also on the bill.
