Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie

Rated R 94 minutes 2012

This feature by cable TV comics Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim (Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!) is the maiden theatrical release of the Web-video production company Funny or Die, which forces me to conclude that both men are dead. There's some wacky meta-movie shtick at the beginning—an endless succession of production company logos, a fake infomercial about an upholstered movie seat with IV drip and popcorn dispenser—but once the chubby heroes are run out of Hollywood and begin managing a crummy SoCal shopping mall, the laughs dry up even as the gross-out material grows more, uh, fluid. Funny or Die is the brainchild of Adam McKay (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) and Will Ferrell, so a few slumming stars turn up here (Ferrell, Will Forte, John C. Reilly, Zach Galifianakis).
