To the editors:
The inerudition of supposed musical savant Dennis Polkow is exceeded only by his presumption in posing as a reviewer. We who have studied "the only universal tongue" find his affectation of knowledge risible in the extreme, but fear others new to it might take his absurd dicta seriously. If you have no qualified personnel capable of pronouncing informed opinions on classical music and opera, that space in the newspaper might be better utilized in publishing public-service advertisements.
