TMI: A Hollywood Love Story

When: Saturdays. Continues through April 24 2010

It's not clear where the love story is in this collection of short sketches, presented as a tabloid-news TV show. In fact, there doesn't seem to be any story at all, unless it's the old one about celebrity news being a fatuous waste of time. Written and directed by Madilynn Beck, this frenetic parody doesn't do anything smart enough to elevate itself above the genre it mocks--though a few moments of comedy manage to slip through, like velvet-rope crashers. C.J. Tuor plays a lovable nerd in a tech-update segment, and Thurston Hill commands the stage as a dance competition contestant. The rest is a torrent of dead-end gags. At 45 minutes, the show's biggest selling point is its brevity. --Keith Griffith
