Greta Garbo's first American film (1926) finds her impregnable persona already established. In the same sort of romantic melodrama that would later become her specialty, Garbo is a Spanish peasant girl in love with an aristocrat. When she's rejected by his family, the last hollow laugh, as always, is hers. Monta Bell directed; with Ricardo Cortez.
