Alexi Pappas, an Olympic long-distance runner, cowrote, codirected, coproduced, and stars in this autobiographical coming-of-age tale about a headstrong college athlete. Set in Eugene, Oregon, the story takes place over a few days leading up to an Olympic trial race, during which time the heroine woos a cute baker and comes to terms with a mentally unstable mother who left the family some years before. None of these developments carry much dramatic weight, yet the film is light and affable, with a few modest laughs and good observational detail about athletic training and the lives of aspiring Olympians. Jeremy Teicher cowrote and codirected.
