Kirby Dick's made-for-HBO documentary chronicles the traumatic long-term effects of one man's childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a trusted Catholic priest. When Toledo firefighter Tony Comes moves into a new neighborhood with his wife and two children, he discovers that Dennis Gray, the priest who repeatedly molested him 20 years earlier, lives only five houses away. Comes goes public with his story, joining a lawsuit filed by other abuse victims against the Toledo archdiocese, only to find that the decision generates even more emotional turmoil for him and his family. The film is never gratuitous in the way it captures intimate domestic details, but at times it leaves the impression that Comes is his own worst enemy. 87 min.
