There is an error in Mr. Ben Joravsky's article "Day of the Condo" (Chicago Reader, 1/15/99, Section One, Neighborhood News).

Mr. Mike Pavilon, who was quoted in the article, is indeed the president of the Uptown Chicago Commission (UCC). However, the UCC is not a local chamber of commerce as stated, and the article gives the incorrect impression that Mr. Weiss's proposal has the support of the local chamber of commerce.

As far as I know, neither the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce nor the Uptown Chamber of Commerce has at this time taken a position on this proposal.

Solomon S. Chu

Executive Director

Uptown Chamber of Commerce

Ben Joravsky replies:

The UCC has always acted like a chamber of commerce and used to identify itself as one.
