UCLA Festival of Preservation

When: Sept. 3-Oct. 15 2011

With more than 220,000 motion picture and television titles, the UCLA Film & Television Archive is second in size only to the Library of Congress. Every two years, the gatekeeper of the mighty, 35mm-heavy repository allows peasants and commoners to view recent restorations during the UCLA Festival of Preservation, a touring series that visits venues like, let's see, the Film Center. The festival begins Saturday 9/3 with Robert Altman's Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean and stretches through 10/5 with 13 other programs, including some ultrarare silent films.
