We All Loved Each Other So Much

124 minutes 1974

An innocuously sentimental story (1974) of three friends, bonded by war and forced apart by time and class allegiances. Ettore Scola's direction tends to be tricky, with elaborate flashbacks, shifts from black and white to color, and actors addressing the audience. But there's some appealing consistency to his characters, as played by Nino Manfredi, Vittorio Gassman, and Stefano Satta Flores.
