We Have a Right to the Chess Party

I play at Cecil [Locke]'s tables. There's a lot of story in your article ["Chess as a Summer Job" by Gus Garcia-Roberts, September 7] but for me--us--the most important thing is this, "the City Council clamped down on street performers on Michigan Avenue and in Millennium Park."

We should let those in city government know that we do not approve of their curtailing of public sphere activities in public spaces we taxpayers paid for. Cecil's presence is an addition to, not a subtraction from Millennium Park. His ouster is a loss to the cultural fabric of the city.
