What Iva Recorded

A video camera is the real protagonist in Tomislav Radic's 2004 Croatian drama, in which a businessman hoping to land a contract invites a rich German to his home. He also invites a prostitute to seal the deal, but the German prefers the businessman's wife. Meanwhile the couple's adolescent daughter uses her new camcorder to tape everything with a cold detachment—her parents' absurd fighting, her mother spilling her main course on the prostitute. Coming-of-age becomes a discovery of what adults are really like. In Croatian with subtitles. 92 min.
