Whipstitch Sallies, Goldmine Pickers

When: Fri., April 4, 10 p.m. 2014

[Goldmine Pickers, a] young quartet from Goshen, Indiana, bases its music in traditional bluegrass but sometimes veers into jamgrass territory—amid the Celtic breakdowns and mountain ballads you get strummy, simpering folk rock and the occasional overwrought train wreck worthy of Old and In the Way. These guys can definitely play, and unlike most of the jamgrass scene they don't show off their chops just for the sake of it. —Peter Margasak, 2005
