White Mystery, Make-Overs, Uh Bones, Sultan Bathery Recommended

When: Fri., Aug. 8, 9 p.m. 2014

Their debut seven-inch, Fireworx (Slovenly), just came out at the end of May, so Sultan Bathery haven't yet left behind enough of their jangly, bluesy, freaky garage rock to warrant a bunch of high-flown metaphors or a stretched comparison to Mick Collins, anyway. Still, this trio from Vicenza, Italy, is weird in its own way—this stuff doesn't hang back behind a curtain of reverb like so much drab present-day garage, instead bouncing brazenly along with upbeat rhythms and achingly demented vocals. —Kevin Warwick, 2012
