To the editors:

Rarely is the parasitic nature of rock journalism made more painfully clear than when Bill Wyman uses a decidedly nonmusical attack on Prince to pad his increasingly anemic Hitsville column (July 9).

There's never been a rock critic (with the possible exception of Lester Bangs) who couldn't be dismissed with a simple, "Who asked you?" or better yet, a simple, "Where's your friggin' album?"

Anyone (you too, Billy Boy) who wastes time wondering how to pronounce Prince's name in the wake of his fanciful moniker adjustment is apparently dumber than he feared you'd be.
