Wild in the Streets

Unaccountably blessed with a cult following, this 1968 film is a ham-fisted satire about a rock star (Christopher Jones) elected president when the voting age is lowered to 14. Predictable ironies follow—everyone over 30 is banished to concentration camps and fed LSD, etc. Shelley Winters, as George's mother, gives the most tasteless performance of her career, while Barry Shear directs as if he'd seen Dr. Strangelove a few too many times.
