Winter Pageant 2010 Member Picks The Short List (Theater) Recommended Closing (Theater and Galleries)

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through Jan. 2 2010

Few all-ages shows are actually delightful for all ages, but Redmoon's smart, weird, annual solstice romp is. A tasty mishmash of cultural ephemera and striking visual design, this year's incarnation tells the story of a defunct family band whose aging members receive a mysterious package containing mementos from their touring days. Strange passions and musical memories seize them as they explore the box. Outlandish costumes, bubble-generating backpacks, and delicate shadow puppetry infuse the simple story with dreamy wonder. Director Seth Bockley plays with the conventions of vintage cartoons, exploring the plausible impossible with a meticulous hand and a healthy dose of wonder. --Keith Griffith
