When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through June 7 2014

There's nothing flashy about director Derek Bertelsen's revival of Margaret Edson's 1999 drama about a literature professor dying of ovarian cancer. The simple set does the job of suggesting the setting, a hospital. The unobtrusive direction never gets in the way of Edson's solid, unsentimental script. No one in the cast wows, but everyone is pretty good—and some are excellent. The result, though, is a moving, sometimes harrowing evening of drama. Alexandra Bennett is particularly strong as the tough, demanding woman at the center of it all. Watching Bennett portray this tough-as-nails professor as she's slowly destroyed by her disease is an education in humility, compassion, and the limits of our all-too-human pride. —Jack Helbig
