Wolf Chalet

Among the many movies set in ski lodges featuring attractive youthful casts, Vera Chytilova's 1987 sci-fi thriller definitely stands out: After signing up for lessons at an isolated chalet, some skiers find themselves at the mercy of a self-proclaimed space alien who demands that they single out someone for death. Despite their best efforts to resist his evil design, the alien's divide-and-conquer strategy soon has them at one another's throats. The scenario may be far-fetched, but under the surface Chytilova makes a chilling point about group psychology and the human response to totalitarianism. In Czech with subtitles. 92 min.
