I read recently that the thing Johannes Gutenberg endeavored to publish after the Bible was a "laxative timetable he called a 'Purgation-Calendar,'" a fun fact which, admittedly, bears only tangential relation to the following: Wood Type, Evolved: Experimental Letterpress & Relief Printing in the 21st Century. This group show, on display through 12/10, highlights new printing techniques based on traditional letterpress materials like wood type, the medium Gutenberg employed to print both the Good Book and, presumably, his fecal calendar. —Sam Worley Reception 9/8, 5-8 PM.
