Photographs by Paul Clark and William Bridges. Defining space or restricting access, barriers are common and temporal motifs that punctuate the land. Clark's photographs are concerned with the transformation that occurs when small parcels are viewed through the material that comprises the barrier. “Work: an Intimate Portrait,” by William Bridges, is a documentary exploration of people engaging in routine activities on their jobs. By focusing on the subjects’ hands as they carry out these activities, this series aims to capture the intersection of the central, and perhaps universal, elements of any work process.
