The team that made The Wrecking of Old Comiskey Park explores the mystique of Wrigley Field by interviewing eccentric fans (some of them fictional), including various bleacher bums, a ticket scalper, a lifelong ball hawk, and a suburban guy who erected a room-size replica of the ballpark. While the video focuses on their obsessive behavior, director David Levenson also probes the socioeconomic factors that have transformed a neighborhood institution into an increasingly crass corporate enterprise. Not all the interviews are equally revealing, some run too long, and the narration (voiced by William Petersen) veers from inspired poetry to mundane prose. Yet the video makers' love for the park is infectious, aided by some great archival footage of the friendly confines. Written by Bob Chicoine; the score is by Bradley Williams. 100 min.
