Yuppie Riffraff

To the editors:

Grim fascination gripped me as I read of my neighborhood in the Reader of August 10 ("Man With a Knife" by Patricia Stoll). I suppose those events really occurred, but the party's over. A shopping center now stands on that corner. O, horrors! O, gentrification!

Actually, such horror stories may be good for the neighborhood. They probably keep the Yuppie riff-raff away, and they preserve Logan Square for the sensible people who are looking for nice apartments or buildings to buy at decent prices in a pleasant community.
