Zerophilia | Chicago Reader

The gender-bending comedy of Billy Wilder and Blake Edwards gets a teenpic makeover in this 2005 debut feature by Martin Curland. A sexually insecure college student (Taylor Handley) develops a rare condition that turns him into a woman whenever he's aroused, which greatly complicates his courtship of a lissome babe (Rebecca Mozo). But the condition turns out to be fairly commonplace as Curland scratches around for additional plot twists. The script's lazy convenience is embodied by a beautiful neuromorphologist (Gina Bellman) who arrives on the scene to explain everything that's going on and even offers to go down on the hero. Of course it's much harder to bring a story to climax. R, 91 min.
