Zola Jesus, Talk Normal, Chris Connelly 18+ Early Warnings (Music) Recommended Soundboard

When: Tue., Feb. 21, 8 p.m. 2012

Over the course of an impressively long career, Chris Connelly has recorded everything from confessional orchestral pop to abstract experimental music, collaborating along the way with respected indie stars such as Tim Kinsella and Steve Shelley. (The latter plays with Connelly, Jeremy Lemos of White/Light, and metal guru Sanford Parker in the unjustifiably overlooked High Confessions.) But odds are he'll always be known for being in pretty much every industrial band that was ever worthy of attention. From the sound of last year's Artificial Madness (Relapse), Connelly is OK with that—though his vocals are more Bowie-esque than ever, much of the instrumentation is based on the kind of chunky power chords and driving rhythms that would fit neatly in the Wax Trax! catalog. —Miles Raymer Zola Jesus headlines; Talk Normal and Chris Connelly open.
